Called Gifted Sent fills an important niche in the sacramental literature. The author Rev Dr Elio Capra SDB is synonymous with the RCIA in Australia, so valuable has his contribution been to the rite over so many years. This book continues that generous contribution and is written in a style which is both scholarly and accessible making it…

  • A vital resource for anyone interested in the RCIA.
  • Sufficiently user-friendly for parishioners wishing to deepen their understanding of the Sacraments of initiation and the Triduum.
  • Meaty enough for any theology students wishing to understand the meaning of the symbols, prayers and rituals of the Triduum and of the sacraments of baptism, confirmation and eucharist.

The book is accompanied by a Journal which will be invaluable for catechumens and candidates wishing to reflect on their own journey towards the sacraments. For RCIA teams and catechists, this package is a God-send: a practical useful journal backed up by a readable, theologically sound text to provide them with enhanced understanding of the RCIA and the Sacraments of initiation and greater confidence in carrying out their ministry.

For Mind & Memory is a response to a need for a simple, cheap and comprehensive basic collection of prayers and outlines on which an elementary catechesis can be developed.

The booklet is valuable as resource in the classroom, and as a handy compendium at home in the family circle. Each family will discover its own preferences for use at prayer-time, and children can be encouraged to make their own selection for learning, in addition to the basic common prayers.

Memorisation has always played an important part in Christian catechesis. It is part of that process by which believers ‘put on Christ’ and form His mind deeply within them. There is, of course, much more to catechesis and prayer than memorised formulas, but the prayers and teachings implanted in the memory in youth accompany us throughout our lives. They are always on hand, and we know from personal experience how they can lead on spontaneously to deeper prayer, to contemplation and union with God.
